We sent our 6 month old German Shepherd Jackson to “camp” with ACC. He was always a good dog but would test us at times, so we wanted to make sure he was well-trained. We worried that his spunky little personality would whither away and questioned if we made the right decision. The night we dropped Jackson off, all of our concerns were addressed and dealt with. Jacob Weaver provides a quality service that is unmatched. ACC’s kennels are nice and clean, the dogs have an airing yard, and most importantly, the dogs are treated with decency and respect. Altamaha Canine Consulting is the “real deal”; their services are “as advertised” and more. Jackson now walks properly and behaves in public. He’s the same goofy pup but now has manners that get compliments all the time. We can always contact ACC about any problems that may arise. In all seriousness and with all the doubts we had, we could not be happier with the results of the 8 week obedience program. Thank you Jacob and we hope to see you soon. In short, if you want all the tools to have a rewarding life with your dog, this training is money well spent.
"Jacob did an amazing job with our chocolate lab Benelli. He went through the obedience & gundog training programs and we were beyond happy with the results. Jacob kept us updated on his progress & spent a lot of time helping us make sure the transition went well when going over all the commands with Benelli. I would highly recommend him for any form or level of training!"
I sent Bentley, a Wheaten Terrier, to “Camp Screven” expecting a German Short haired Pointer to return. But no, an even cuter Bentley who doesn’t jump up so much and who goes to his ”place” when told. He still is a licker and he still has a mind of his own, but that is his personality.
5 out of 5 stars for ACC. They done awesome work with my lab and have trained him well. Jacob has done great work with him and has impressed me with what my dog can do. I’ve never had an issue with them. They took good care of my lab also. Would highly recommend using Jacob at ACC for any needs!
We sent our 5 year old cavapoo to Jacob because she had become a bit territorial and had slipped into pushy behaviors with the children - especially when it came to food and space on the couch. We sent Maggie to Jacob and he helped us teach her to be our dog, not our boss! It has helped tremendously to keep her off the furniture and to sit and wait for a treat. We have taken time to work with Maggie on the commands and are careful not to let her slip back into old habits and that is key. Jacob definitely taught us the tools we did not have before and we are enjoying our dog much more now.
As new dog owners, we were not confident and quite amateurish in how to train our new Boykin Spaniel , affectionately named Zoey by our boys.
Altamaha Canine Consulting under the direction of Jacob Weaver was HIGHLY recommended to us by several different families and this proved to be one of the best decisions that we have made. Not only is Jacob truly loving and compassionate to all of dogs in training as well as his kennel dogs.... he is extremely knowledgable and honest and amazing in the way that he gets to know each dog personally and effortlessly. He immediately puts all of your fears and concerns at rest with his kind demeanor and his true patience with every inquiry, question and concern.
The experiences that we have had since the first moment that we met Jacob and his crew to the current moment have been nothing less than perfect. His facilities are clean and perfect for the dogs with time for play and individual training time. There is no doubt that Jacob treats his student dogs just like he would his own and once he makes a friend in them ... that bond is obvious and so awesome to see.
He trained our Zoey for many months with great success and we truly cannot thank Jacob and his guys enough.... ! To say that we had a A , 5 Star experience would be right on!!!
Jacob....we ( including Zoey girl ) thank you so very much for always going above and beyond with her!
We are so glad that we put our trust in Altamaha Canine Consulting and Jacob Weaver with Zoey !!!
I can not say enough about Jacob and Altamaha Canine Consulting. We have two young kids that were so excited to welcome our golden retriever puppy Belle into our home. She was so sweet but really didn't understand that my two year old was not her playtoy. She constantly knocked him down and jumped all over him. She didn't listen to me and my husband and we did not know what to do. Everyone was miserable especially poor Belle who spent a lot of time in her crate. I met Jacob at Wolfe Animal Hospital and mentioned to him my struggles with Belle. He told me about his program and it seemed like it could work! When I dropped off Belle I had confidence that Jacob could train her but would she still be the same at home. As the weeks went by Jacob kept me updated on Belle's progress. We missed her terribly but to be honest it was a nice break after all the chaos we had for months. When we arrived to pick up Belle at the end of the program I was amazed! She did everything Jacob said and would even follow commands my 8 year old gave her. She truly understood what we wanted her to do and did it! When we got home it was life changing! Belle no longer tackled my son and would do exactly what we asked her to do. We have had her home for about 6 months now and other than an occasional reminder with her e-collar she is awesome! She is truly a member of our family and we are all so happy! Belle goes with us everywhere! The beach, school and restaurants. We are so thankful for Jacob and all the staff at Altamaha Canine Consulting!!! Thank you for putting peace back in our lives!!!
The day that Jake was born he was destined to be my bird dog, even though the plan was for him to be my husband’s. I personally whelped Jake’s litter for my husband’s friend, who highly recommend Altamaha Canine Consulting. Jake entered into obedience at six months of age with Jacob Weaver. He then continued into retrieval training. He was there for a total of four months. Jake is now MY hunting dog! We duck hunt, quail hunt and dove hunt every chance we get! I love this dog. He has become an amazing hunting partner! I owe it all to Jacob and the staff at Altamaha Canine Consulting! This dog has changed my life!
Thru a series of phone calls looking for a lab puppy, I was lucky enough to be put in touch with Jacob. In November of 2016 I drove home with a tiny chocolate lab that we named Tuck. 6 months later I realized I needed some help with training and called Jacob back up to see if he was the answer. He was indeed. I really liked the fact that Jacob knew both Tuck's mom and dad and his temperament. He is a smart boy - really I am the one who needed the training to make him the best dog he could be! Jacob has a wonderful, clean facility and takes the time to make sure that you and your family have the knowledge and tools to continue your dogs training once you leave. If I get another dog - I will certainly call Jacob to help me find and train the next one!
In January 2015, my wife and I decided to add a puppy to our family. Little did I know the puppy I picked out, Ziggy, would turn into a gorgeous 85 pound bird dog/Labrador mix. Fast forward two + years- the three of us were living in Brantley County. At that time, Ziggy was an inside dog and didn’t have much exposure to other people or dogs. When family or friends would venture to our residence, Ziggy would become defensive of “his” house and would only approach others on his terms- needless to say, he wasn’t a social creature. In April, my wife and I learned we were expecting a baby within the year, and we knew something had to be done with Ziggy. After researching for obedience training and animal socialization, I stumbled upon a training gem, Altamaha Canine Consulting and Jacob Weaver. I spoke with Jacob on the phone and he explained his detailed three month obedience training program. At first I was hesitant to go three months without “my boy,” but knew something had to be done. In May, 2017, I dropped Ziggy off with Jacob. My near 90 pound, aggressive, barking, and self-driven dog was about to have a life changing experience. After nearly a month of Ziggy being gone, I learned that he was not your typical dog. Jacob expressed having difficulties with training him and even being able to approach him and earn his trust. That didn’t stop the continued attempts. After a little over two months of training, my wife and I went to Altamaha Canine Consulting to see Ziggy, and any progress that he had made. Again, Jacob expressed that progress had been slow, but was taking place. In addition, Ziggy was no longer a near 90 pound dog and was a svelte, radiant, 70 pound dog. After watching Ziggy listen to commands from Jacob and walk beside him without trying to bite, bark, or run away, I was very impressed. Still, Jacob asked to continue to work with Ziggy, even past the three month allotted training time. Jacob expressed that Ziggy was making progress and that he was confident that more progress could be made. After approximately four months of training, I again spoke with Jacob, and was told that Ziggy was ready to come home. As I pulled up to Altamaha Canine Consulting, Jacob retrieved Ziggy from his pen, and walked Ziggy around me, the yard, other dogs, and other workers. Ziggy didn’t bark, bite, and try to attack, or do anything other than what Jacob was instructing. Needless to say, Ziggy was a changed dog. What impressed me beyond Ziggy’s behavior was Jacob’s honesty and dedication. Jacob was honest in stating that Ziggy was not the type of dog to have around children as he did still have trust problems. During the training he explained the difficulties and accomplishments during the training. Jacob’s dedication and commitment to training and working with Ziggy was very apparent through his various training method attempts, time spent with him, and through Ziggy’s outcome. He not only viewed Ziggy as his job but as a passion and a challenge. I would highly recommend Jacob and Altamaha Canine Consulting with behavior, obedience, and handling training for any dog. Ziggy is far from perfect, but he now is an outdoor dog, listens to commands of sit, stay, and down, is in great physical shape, and he is socialized- my family and friends are able to be around him and interact with him. Thank you Jacob. My family and I greatly appreciate you all you have done!
Hello! My name is Bj. I purchased a Doberman puppy and I knew I wanted him to be a well trained dog. As I was searching for a trainer a friend of mine mentioned Jacob of Altamaha Canine.I called and got Jacob on my first try. When we brought Sampson to the training center I had a very hard time controlling him, being 7 months old and weighing 70 lbs.The facility is very clean. I was impressed. Also Jacob has the patience of an angle when dealing with these dogs. I am so pleased with the results. Sampson is so very well trained I am in awe. I can take him anywhere and I am very proud to show off his obedience skills.I highly recommend Jacob to anyone that wants a very well behaved dog.I just can't say enough about Jacob and his facility.
To Altamaha Canine, Jacob Weaver. Thank you for all you did for me and my 8 mths old German Shepherd Tybee She went to you so hyper, jumping on me ,and I really did not have any control of her. Tybee completed the eight week obedience training. Now she has returned home and she is so much calmer, and now listen to me. She can sit ,heal ,come, place, stay. She is a joy to be with. I recommend the facility, it is very clean, and cool in this heat. My dog was well taken care of. Tybee has learned so much the training is excellent. Thank you,
I want to begin by writing that just can not say enough about the improvement that we have seen in our 2 year old lab Scott following the 8 week obedience course we just completed with Jacob. It was probably the toughest 8 weeks being without our beloved dog but what a difference. Scott is simply a different dog, and I say that in the best possible way. Prior to this boot camp, Scott was an overweight alpha male that ran the house, at least when it came to my wife and son. Jumping on visitors, doing things asked of him only when he wishes, being aggressive are just a few of the problems. Being in some ways the typical disobedient 2 year puppy. With a new baby in the house, there was definitely some very stressful thoughts that have come to mind with previous state of our puppy. However following boot camp, these thoughts have disappeared. We now have an extremely well mannered obedient dog. Comes, stays, heels, places on command. Plus he returned to us healthier with a 10 pound weight loss. Jacob, our family truly thanks you for the time and effort in this transformation. I would not hesitate to refer some one to you and will attempt to refer as many folks as I can to you and your facility.
I spent a long time researching and searching for an Airedale Terrier. It is not easy finding a working ADT in the US and I was about to get one from Germany until I met Jacob. He has a program that really focuses on what is best for the breed. Communication was excellent and purchase and delivery was smooth as silk. But most importantly is the quality of dog I received. Great drive and balanced temperament. He turned in to such a great dog. All I can say is Jacob breeds the best Airedale Terrier in the US.
When I signed my 11 month old male Doberman/Lab mix, Murphy, up for obedience school, I was hoping for a steadfast solution to his puppy antics. I had worked with him time and time again on various issues, and it never seemed to stick. I heard of Jacob and Altamaha Canine Counseling and thought it would be the solution to my frustrations. After 8 weeks of schooling, I came to pick Murphy up. What I found was an extremely obedient dog. I could not believe the transformation, and neither could my roommates and family. I now had a dog that would sit, stay, heal, go to place, come when called, not jump, and the list goes on. I'm thrilled with the results, and would recommend Jacob to anyone looking for an 8 week fix to their dog's obedience issues.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jacob Weaver years ago, at Wolfe Animal Hospital. We’ve been taking our pets to see them for over 20 years. I learned quickly Jacob had a lot of experience with animals, and personally, with Golden Retrievers. I recalleda conversation with him about his golden, once when I was bringing my first of 3 goldens (Rusty—he passed in 2005), in for a checkup.
We lost our last golden, Abby, in June of 2016, whom werescued at 2 1/2 years old (she was almost 14). Then in November, we were surprised with a 4 month old Golden Retriever puppy, a gift to us from some of our family. We’d not had a puppy in over 20 years. When we received Copper, he was already a pretty big pup. If anyone knows Goldens, you know how hyper/active they are. Well, we could already tell he wasgoing to be the biggest golden we’d ever had. We also have 5 grandchildren, ranging from ages 6 months to 4 years old. We knew we were going to have to get him under control quickly, but we (my husband and I) were pretty rusty when it came to obedience training.
Copper was having some digestive issues for the first few months we had him. They were doing numerous tests and it was determined we needed to change his diet. I had questions about his new food and was directed to Jacob.
When Jacob emailed me, I noticed at the bottom of the email, the address for his website--Altamaha Canine Consultants. I started looking all over the site, reading testimonials, and I knew right away, he was the one we needed to train both of us and Copper. Unfortunately, all I read about was his 8 week inboard obedience training school. When we received Copper, we had no idea how lonely we had been after losing Abby. The thought of not seeing him every day for 8 weeks was just not something we were ready to do. So, I then emailed Jacob and asked him if he provided private sessions and, low and behold, he said yes!
We started training with Jacob once a week, for 6 weeks, when Copper was almost 8 months old. From day one, we could tellhe was a very smart dog and, with the correct training, he was going to do great. We met with Jacob for one hour sessions andwe would then continue to work with Copper, as much as possible, in the days between sessions.
Copper recently graduated and, I’m proud to say, he is a much better behaved puppy now. There has already been many instances where we have seen how the training is definitely paying off. He is so much easier to control, even in the midst of distraction.
We highly recommend Jacob for basic obedience training. What we’ve learned from him is invaluable. Copper is going to be the very best family pet we have ever had because of it. We know that it is all about repetition and we have to do our part, especially since we only took him once a week, but if you are willing to put in the time as well, you will not be disappointed with Jacob’s services. It was the best decision we could have made for Copper and our family.
Thanks Jacob! You are truly the “Dog Whisperer”
Normally don't give reviews on much stuff unless really impressed and that I was with Altamaha training services. Jacob Weaver is jam up trainer and great down to earth person. I let him get ahold of his first Boykin to train, and he let me know right away it was going to be an experience for all of us, and it was. He kept me up to date on everything whether he was sharp as a tack on something or spinning his wheels. But I told Jacob the style of hunting we do and what all I would like my dog to be able to do and he met everything I asked for and more. So I would highly recommend Jacob to anyone who is looking for a trainer, if you ever have any problems he's always more than happy to try and tell you the fix or to ride over and let him see it to show you how to correct it in person. Everytime I'd went there to work my dog or check up on him he was very well took care of and always up
to par on all of his healthcare needs. So once again if anyone looking for a trainer, I would highly recommend him, and I'm sure he will get a few more from me in the future.
We just wanted to say thanks to Altamaha Canine Consulting for providing such an outstanding obedience program, Ember has exceeded my expectations. I could not have asked for a better instructor or kennel to send Ember to. From the very beginning you treated Ember and myself like we were family, I also love the fact that you kept me updated constantly on her progress whether it was by simply sending me a text or sending me a picture of her in action. I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to send anyone else your way. I look forward to future endeavors and I am very pleased with Ember and my total experience with Altamaha Canine Consulting. I would recommend Altamaha Canine Consulting to anyone that is looking to send their dog to school for either obedience or gun dog. Again, I would like to thank Jacob and his crew at Altamaha Canine Consulting for an amazing experience.
Hi we are the Woods family we would like to tell you about our dog when we first got him he was very aggressive and overly payful not recognizing his own strength he would not heed to any commands because of his aggressiveness our little terrier was very afraid of him to a point where instead of going out the back door to go potty he would run to the front door. my husband decided he needed to send Rocky to school to help him learn different methods of behaviors and commands after searching for weeks we ran across a company called Altamaha canine consulting. Rocky was gone about two months and one week we were truly amazed at his new behavior when we tell him to stop heel, sit,or go to his place he does it we were so happy with these results everyone who lives in my home is able to command him and even more amazing our terrier is no longer afraid to go near him. one more thing we were pleased with the price that we were quoted and were able to visit Rocky after he settled in for a few weeks, yes we missed him but it was well worth it thanks to the staff at Altamaha Canine Consulting.
Most grateful,
Meet Duke, the once incorrigible hound, who would nearly knock me down when the door was opened to run amok. Then he would run away and be MIA for a day or two. When I take him for walks on his leash, he would drag me and twice put me on the ground. Once resulting in a black eye. When I had to leave home, and put him in the pen, I had to force him into it. Now, he still doesn't like for me to leave him, but walks into his pen without force. These better behaviors are result of an 8-week basic training course with Jacob Weaver. Duke also now walks beside me and does not bolt out like he used to do. The training made him a gentleman and much more manageable. Thank you Altamaha Canine Consulting.
My husband, Durell and I brought home our 10 week old male Golden-doodle, Buffett in late January of 2017. To say he was cute is an understatement. To say he was a handful is a HUGE understatement! Buffett was in short, one wild puppy! He was a bundle of energy, into absolutely everything, and feared absolutely nothing, except one thing-being in his crate! Durell and I didn't sleep for three months!! We loved him from the moment he came into our lives, but knew within days we were in over our heads! We needed some serious help to channel our smart pup's energy; enter Jacob. After hearing good things about Jacob and Altamaha Canine Consulting, we contacted him. Sending Buffett to Jacob's 8 week obedience training boot camp was the best decision we have made for Buffett and ourselves. He came back a transformed dog; healthy, happy, obedient, and loving life! Buffett still has as much energy and playfulness as he always did, but we are now able to channel that energy into structured learning and play that keeps him active, focused, challenged, and happy! We are much happier too! Thank you, Jacob for loving Buffett like he were your own and helping us to see what a wonderful dog he could be!
Seriously can’t thank ACC enough for the work he did with my two year old goldendoodle, Winnie. Winnie was super sweet before she went to obedience school, but she only listened to me if she wanted to.. which was hardly ever. I was afraid training would make her lose her sweet disposition, but it absolutely did not. She came back the same sweet girl she always was, only now she knows when I tell her to do something she has to do it (with only a little attitude). Jacob spent so much time teaching me how to be in control of her and has been available since I picked her up to answer any questions I have had. My only regret is not sending her when she was younger. Walks would have been a lot less stressful. I can’t recommend ACC enough!
We had a very pleasant training experience with Altamaha Canine Consulting. Our Brittany Spaniel, Waylon, is very high strung and independent. We needed help with basic commands. (Sit, stay, place, heel and here). Jacob fulfilled that need. We are proud of Waylon’s progress in the two month period. Thank you Jacob for a job well done!
Jacob, we couldn’t be happier than to provide a reference for the excellent outcome with you and Taylor in training to recall with the e-collar for our coon hound Daisy. We have had absolutely amazing results with her as we continue to reinforce what she has learned there with you all. I can’t think of one time that she has failed to respond when called. Please tell Taylor how pleased we are with Daisy’s excellent care and training while there at Altamaha Kennels. We look forward to seeing you again!
Jasper came to our home as a stray. We tried finding his owners but were unsuccessful. So we unexpectedly had a new member of our family and a new puppy. We had not had a puppy in many, many years. It didn't take long to figure out we needed help. One of the best decisions we've ever made was letting Jacob and Kylee keep him for eight weeks of obedience training. His behavior is greatly improved. He follows commands and is much easier to live with. Thank you so much for helping us.
Y’all made this Mama happy. She is SO well behaved. We had a party and she was sweet to everybody from toddler to adult and stayed on her place when I needed her to be out of the way. And she was able to go in and out of the house without us getting anxious she would bolt because of the relationship we have build with her because of your good work.
